Each person’s journey with addiction and recovery is unique, and seeking treatment is a significant first step. We’re here to help you every step of the way.

Medicaid Insurance
Chrysalis House only accepts those covered by Medicaid. If you have coverage, your time with us will have no cost for you. If you are uninsured, we can help you apply for Medicaid.
Set an Admission Date
Upon admission, there will be a formal medical assessment and program orientation.
What Things Should You Bring?
We want everyone to start off on the right foot and to feel at home at the Chrysalis House. Below, we’ve provided a short list of Dos and Don’ts when it comes to preparing for your time with us.
To protect everyone’s safety and recovery, please understand that we will remove items listed on the below “What not to bring” list. Thank you in advance for your help and cooperation.

Items of Significant Value – i.e. jewelry, watches, clothing, bags etc.

What is the first step in order to be admitted to a Chrysalis House treatment program?
If you or a loved one is in need of treatment, please call Mary Beth Bresch White, Admissions Coordinator at 443-534-1670. She will guide you through the admission process.
Does Chrysalis House offer detox services?
Although we do not offer detox services, we partner with several detox programs in our immediate area. We will assist clients with this process prior to arrival. A new client must be 5 days substance free prior to admission.
What level of care do you provide?
Crownsville – Residential (3.3), Intensive Outpatient (IOP 2.1), and Outpatient Program (OP 1.0); Chrysalis House Healthy Start, Baltimore – Community-Based Housing
May a client bring her children?
Crownsville Location – Yes, clients may bring up to two children under age 10 at the time of admission at Chrysalis House. We provide child care Monday-Friday so that women can participate in treatment.
Baltimore Location – Clients can be pregnant, only have one child under the age of 3 or be in reunification at Chrysalis House Healthy Start.
How much will treatment cost?
At Chrysalis House (Crownsville) costs are fully covered through government insurance (Maryland Medicaid). We do not currently accept private insurance. Chrysalis House Healthy Start (Baltimore) is grant funded and by our contract, all clients contribute to their care; we do bill Medicaid except for prescriptions.
How long will a woman be in treatment?
Length of stay will be determined by a client’s participation in our programs and by her individual treatment plan. Average stay is 3-6 months.
What should a new client bring with her on the day of admission?
If possible but not necessary, clients should bring a Photo ID, an insurance card for herself (and her child) and 30 days of medication. At Chrysalis House Healthy Start (Baltimore), clients should bring enough clothing for herself and child for 14 days. No bedding unless it is new and still sealed as well as toiletries. If a client does not have any of the items previously mentioned, we will help her obtain them.
May clients have visitors?
Yes, we encourage the involvement of family and friends in a client’s treatment. Visitors must be approved in advance by the clinical staff and are required to attend family education. There may be additional guidelines, which can be found in the Resident Manual.
What is a typical day like?
Our program has a daily routine, including group meetings, individual counseling, and other therapeutic activities. We serve three meals every day to residential clients and their children.
Do you offer an aftercare program?
Yes, we offer Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient because we know that continuity of care is extremely important.
Is there a limit to the personal belongings in the facility?
Yes. Due to a limited amount of space and health concerns, there is a limit to the amount of personal items brought into the facility. A list of items is found in our Residential manual.
May clients smoke cigarettes while in treatment?
While our buildings are smoke-free, there are scheduled smoke breaks throughout the day in designated outdoor areas.
May clients receive packages in the facility?
Clients may receive packages while in our residential program, however, all packages must be approved.
